Diameter and thickness of disc cutter:

The diameter of the disc cutter determines the shear angle. The larger the outer diameter, the smaller the shear angle, and the smaller the required motor power, which is more energy-saving. But if the diameter is too large, the rigidity of the disc cutter will weaken, affecting the service life of the disc cutter. The thickness of the disc cutter determines the strength of the disc cutter, but if the disc cutter is too thick, it will be very heavy, not only difficult to operate, but also expensive. At the same time, cutting narrow strips also limits the thickness of the disc cutter. If the cutterhead is too thin, the deflection of the cutterhead is not enough, and the lateral clearance of the cutterhead changes significantly during the shearing process. The cutting cut and shape will change, and the wear of the cutterhead is also relatively fast. As a vulnerable part of the disc shear, the machining accuracy and hardness of the disc cutter play a very important role in its service life. Based on practical experience, the thickness accuracy of the disc cutter is 0.005mm, the flatness accuracy is 0.025mm, and the parallelism accuracy of both sides is 0.005mm. During the use of the disc cutter, due to prolonged resistance to compression with the sheet metal, the blade may experience wear and blunt angles, and a metal fatigue layer may appear at the incision area. To ensure shear quality, it is necessary to repair the worn disc. The disc cutter plays a very important role in the accuracy of cutting strip with disc shear.

Axial backlash of disc cutter:

The size of the axial clearance reserved for the disc cutter should be determined based on the thickness and strength of the shear strip. Generally, the ratio between the tear zone and the shear zone is around 2:1, and the suitability of the side gap can be determined based on the color and roughness of the shear section: the section is smooth and shiny, and the side gap is too small; The section is lead gray with slightly smaller side gaps; The section is white with a hint of lead gray, and the side gap is suitable; The cross-section is white, granular and coarse, with too large side gaps. If the side gap is too large, shear burrs may occur. If the side clearance is too small, it will cause excessive disc shear load, severe wear of the cutting disc, and short service life. During the production process, the side clearance values on both sides of the disc cutter should be as consistent as possible. Because on the side with a large side gap, the indentation in the cut area will become larger, and the side with a smaller side gap will cause greater tension on the strip, resulting in shear sickle bending. Especially for steel plates (narrow steel strips) with a smaller ratio of plate thickness to plate width, the probability of sickle bending is higher.

Coincidence amount:

The overlap amount is determined by the thickness of the shear strip. Generally, when the thickness is ≤ 4mm, it is a positive value, and when the thickness is>4mm, it is a negative value, indicating that the blade is in a non overlapping state. Generally speaking, if the overlap is too large, the shear force will increase, and the edges of the strip will bend or even buckle after shearing; If the overlap is too small, the strip will not be able to cut or there will be a phenomenon of continuous cutting.

Knife axis accuracy: Knife axis accuracy includes horizontal swing, vertical swing, and axial movement of the knife axis. Usually, the accuracy of horizontal and vertical swing of the tool shaft is required to be within ± 0.005mm. The accuracy of axial movement is required to be within ± 0.005mm. The accuracy of the cutter shaft plays a very important role in achieving the stability of the cutter head backlash and the deviation of the cutter head.
